Thank you for reporting the site to the Town. We will be dispatching our inspector to the site to evaluate the sidewalk. Please allow us up to two weeks to conduct the inspection.

Engineering met Public Works on site this morning at 10 a.m. and verified a gap below the sidewalk. We were able to lift a broken piece of sidewalk and observed that it went further toward the water lateral to the west (right facing the house).

Public Works will be sending crew over to remove two to three sidewalk squares to verify the undermining. The most likely scenario is of a broken water lateral or a rotten roots from a stump many years ago. Once the sidewalk squares are removed, the area will be filled with gravel until we have sidewalk contractors to replace the sidewalk

This site will be placed on our Claims list to be addressed.
