Thanks for the suggestion. The City is proposing a multi-use path on the east side of Waverly between Jolly and Moore's River Drive. Funding has tentatively been allocated for this for 2011. There are 4-6 parcels that we need to secure right of way from. Once this is complete, we will proceed with design.

A pathway is in final design. Construction anticipated in 2012 pending acquisition of needed right of way.

Until these happen this should remain an open issue.

Sidewalk is planned for the west side of Waverly from north of Jolly to Glenburne. An 8'-10' wide pathway is planned for the east side of Waverly from Maybel to Cooley. Plans have been finalized and the project has been bid and awarded. Funding is contained in the current fiscal year's (FY'12) budget. The work is scheduled for June/July of 2012.

These issues are independent of one another. The Waverly project is funded in this fiscal year. The Moores River Drive / Mt. Hope project is dependent on grant funding.

Pathway was constructed on the east side of Waverly Road from Cooley Drive to Maybel in 2012 and sidewalk constructed from Glenburne Blvd. to the south on the west side at the same time.

Thank you for the safe passage out of our neighborhood!
I did want to point out to someone, that the water wants to pool up, rather deep and wide, on either side of Waverly road, in the pedestrian crossing, by the traffic island. Annoying, but still serviceable.
The thing is, with four lanes of 45+ mph traffic constricted down to two laser-beam-like lanes of folks jockeying to be the first past the island. Plus the traffic in and out of Glenburne. One really needs to move fast across Waverly. Those lakes on either side only add to the excitement of that crossing and I imagine they will cause premature road problems as well.
Looking forward to being able to get safely accross the river. And Lansing Township... I would love to also get safely North of 496.
