So far the city leaders endorse the homeless and forget that some people have houses, pay rent and work. If the homeless refuse housing or help there is no way they should be allowed to set up in a residential area , a park, etc. Oakland has a sit, lie law but its not enforced.

Good Afternoon Ms. McElhaney,

I live in your district, I have lived here for a couple of years.

For the past couple of years, life where I live is getting unbearable due to the constant homeless encampment under the 980 underpass along 7th Street. This year is the worse – piling of 3-4 feet of garbage, on the corner of 7th / Castro behind the fence. Now they are burning the trash to cook and dispose of it.

During the past couple of months, where its hot – I had to close the window because the stench was so bad. With urine and human facies smell – last week I went to my girlfriends house to get away.

I pay 6000 dollars in property tax every year. I have complained to every department in Oakland and Cal Trans. — I am tired of it.

I want to know what you can do.. Or is this another email that will be deleted and never be responded to.

Buzz, i just sent a letter to Ms McElhaney about the homeless yesterday on MLK. The homeless are out of control and if she won't address the issue the city needs to find someone who will. I mentioned all the streets that are constantly on this site. It's her job to make solutions, If she can't she needs to step down. Also wrote the Mayor awhile ago, but no response.
