The speed limit and the traffic amount has changed drastically for this particular intersection.

A tractor trailer ran that light 2 weeks ago..I had a green light as I crested the hill on petrified Sea Garden Rd..by the time I was about to cross 29 I saw the tractor trailer heading west, totally ignoring the light...we both slammed on our breaks and missed eachother by about 2 feet...3 more seconds and my 2 little kids would have no longer had thier mommy...I have seen this happen over and over there. PLEASE PUT THOSE NOISE STRIPS IN 100 FEET PRIOR TO THE LIGHT AND HAVE THE RED LIGHT BLINK WITH THAT BRIGHT WARNING LIGHT! A pt of mine last week had a similar red light runner and she had 3 kids in her car that could have been killed!

I'm sorry this happened to you. The state investigated the safety of the intersection at my request. Sorry to say they feel it is totally safe and within current safety standards. No changes are going to made. I do hope no one else gets hurt.

Another really bad accident here on 11/30. Not sure who's fault, no story in any news, but it did involve a tractor trailer again.

I wrote to the state DOT -they feel it's very safe. No changes coming. Property on right side of Rolland is private so they aren't going to improve sight east down 29. Hoping my lawyer will be taking all into account.

Everyday at a little after 3pm, I come down Rowland to Rt.29 and watch several of the following each day:
Making turn with cellphone up to ear.
Going through a redlight that was red a second or two before they even reach the intersection.
Going off the road to go around car waiting to make a left onto Rowland.
Cars making right onto Rowland hitting the giant pothole to the side of the road.
Making a right on red without stopping.
More cars with phones up to their ears.

I have seen many accidents at this intersection over the years and as traffic increases, there will be more. Very little police presence. But then again, these actions are happening everywhere else too.

The intersection itself is not unsafe, it is the drivers who violate the laws and the rest of us who stand by an let it happen without so much as honking your horn at them. Honk and draw attention to them and let others (or a nearby cop) know.

yes i agree and I do honk if I am first in line but unless something structural or other changes all remains the same. Cell phones up to ears on about 70% of the drivers, I usually count 2-3 people running the light every time. I can honk until I am blue in the face but unless they learn their lesson or I get the thousands of people who violate then I do not get anywhere. I have gotten honked at a dozen times for actually waiting too long when the light turns green as I inch forward to make sure I won't get killed. Warning ridges and more delay in the light would solve a lot of issues. I am pretty sure they put a camera on the light about 2 years ago..I wonder if they issue tickets from that? It would increase their revenue, decrease repeat offenders and pay for the warning ridges along with possibly saving lives....sounds like a no brainer?
