It’s ridiculous how as a property owner and someone trying to help out the city we don’t get the assistance we ask for but the city is quick to take take take. Help me help you NEW BRITAIN CITY COUNCILS and our beloved MAYOR.!

yeaaaaa I’m gonna go ahead and say nothing has been resolved. haven’t seen a single car pulled over, and I am home due to COVID. granted there hasn’t been any races lately, there is still an abundance of vehicles that are speeding excessively

traffic was monitored for an hour with average speeds between 30-35mph..continued enforcement will be done in the area

Come back again on a Friday or Saturday night when they’re doing donuts by the bees stadium and speeding down the street to get to downtown after, blasting through stop signs going highway speed and racing side by side with ATV’s and dirt bikes.
Not sure which end of Glen street you were monitoring, but this is not resolved. Nice try though.

Stop closing this request when it’s not fixed. It’s literally your job to deal with it, so deal with it. If someone gets hit, this is the proof that the city was fully aware of the issue.

I’ve seen an officer parked in the vicinity a couple times. It happens on multiple streets in that area.

What time of day were you monitoring the speed? Nothing has changed. Stop closing the request unless it’s resolved. The speeding is happening during the day, but it is primarily on nights and weekends. Monitor accordingly. How many times have you been called to the intersection of Glen and Buell because 2 people blew through the stop sign at the same time? I’ve been there for at least 4. Make my taxes worth paying and do something about it.

Not resolved and haven’t seen a single police officer monitoring speed. Our intersections have tire marks from cars doing donuts and the residents in this general area have to triple check before going after stopping at stop signs to make sure no one is blowing it. Not sure why we have to continue to feel unsafe. It’s your responsibility to fix it, not ours.

This was initially reported on 10/9/20 and has been going on for at least the 3 years we have lived here. There is absolutely no reason that this neighborhood can’t be monitored better for extended periods of time.

It is so sad yet so true.! The same thing on Lawlor and Lasalle. I literally wait to see if they will stop I’ve seen it too many times them running the stop signs. Please help us help you we are also trying to make New Britain a better place to live.

as a new resident to New Britain I agree the speeding is out of control with no patrol cars ever in area - I’m afraid at 4ways because racers go through them.
a comment made to Mrs Mayors FB page went un-replied as she commented to others and disregarded this issue - please help!

traffic study was completed and speed data collected. 85th percentile of speeds was 31mph in this area with averages at 26mph. I understand their may be an occasional vehicle that exceeds the posted speed limits, but based on our recent traffic study, there does not appear to be a speed problem on glen between buell and brook

It’s not occasional. It is a huge issue. This neighborhood has a lot of kids and pets and it’s dangerous for them to be in close proximity to the street or even on the sidewalk with the things we’ve seen. The NBPD is being extremely inconsiderate. I told you the times in which this happens. Monitoring during the day is not going to do it. Do you live in this specific area? Do you have trouble leaving your driveway every morning because people are driving dangerously? Have you almost killed your entire family when you have the right of way at a stop sign and someone drove through it with their lights off going 75 without stopping? Have you opened your blinds to check on a noise and seen two cars racing side by side up the street and then back the other way again with cars driving properly down the street at the same time that almost have to drive into the lawn to avoid dying? No? Oh ok. Well I have. So put up a radar speed sign or change my mind. Do your job. Nights and weekends, not 12pm on a Tuesday.

And if you’re monitoring how about hiding instead of sitting in plain sight.

this is so true as a tax payer we pay for registration and plates to ride our motorcycles legit !! but here you have all these unregistered atv dirt bikes no plates zooming by in groups of 20 or even more doing wheelies and taking over the whole dam street swarming over peoples lawn and on side walks but NBPD dont do anything but sit text and smile till someone coming from work gets hit or worst then what ? kid goes home we are left to fix our own vehicle ? its sad we wrote to the mayor even called but nobody cares so why do we pay for insurance taxes registration if everyone else is just riding around free flying by cops popping wheelies doing burn outs and using both lanes of a 2 way street its sad cops just sit around and allow this or turn the cheek. but as a legit driver we get pulled over and stopped cause why you need to fill your ticket book for the month sad. we need these atvs off the streets half of them are stolen or have no paperwork. NBPD STOP THESE BIKES PLEASE !!!
