This is not a Coast Guard issue at all. Coast Guard is responsible for the federal channel only, i.e. Long Creek, Broad Bay etc. The eastern and western branch are the responsibility of the city, hence city aids to navigation. The city is also responsible for danger and no wake buoys within their waters as the Coast Guard does nothing with these. Unfortunately more citizens do not know what the city is responsible for, so they do not know who to complain to when there is an issue. The more the citizens complain, the more the city will feel the pressure to correct the issues and make the waters safer for the boating public. Not sure how the city assigns their work orders, but trust me they are aware of this situation. Shortly after this was reported a city official was on my boat to see the extent of the work needed to correct the issues. Now, how long it takes them to act, that is a different topic all together. Let's just hope it is before someone gets hurt.
