I agree, I complained to the Oakland County Road Comm. because they are the one's that made those changes not Waterford. I was told the people in that neighborhood petioned to have the roads closed because of high traffic cutting through to get to Meijers. But the majority of the offenders are residents in that neighborhood. I say either block them off completly or put it back the way it was.

People illegally turn at these intersections because they know the waterford cops look the other way! It's been going on for years...the only action will occur when someone gets injured.

This do not enter thing was put in use years ago... how did the residents get this done? I pay taxes.. I should be able to turn in and go out the same way. What gave this area the green light to stop all the traffic? I know lots of streets in Waterford that are used as "cut throughs" and the township wouldn't think of letting them be ONE WAY. Traffic volume has tripled in the last 10 years. I think it's time to put these streets back to the way they were and let the residents DEAL WITH IT as the rest of us have too!!!!!!

This is the most pointless road block ever!! It is absolutely frustrating to have to drive an extra 10 minuets to get to my own house.

Guess what? I have to drive an extra 10 minutes to get to my house too. Know why? ITS THE LAW. If you have to drive an extra 10 minutes to get to your house, leave 10 minutes early.

This is a stupid prohibition designed to appease a neighborhood fears about traffic. The problem is that people want to turn left and there is a dumb sign that says they can't for no REAL reason.

Take down the signs.

This has been a MAJOR disruption to the flow of traffic. Now Pontiac Lk Rd is always backed up, and this is the road children use to walk to school and cross the road to get to school.
There's NO good reason for me to NOT be able to turn left onto Watkins. instead I have to drive through a school zone and 3 busy intersections placing me at a higher risk of a possible collision before I can reach Watkins to get to Baybrook.

I live on M-59, should I petition to have my section of road closed off because the traffic is too heavy and puts my children at risk?
(It was only 2 lanes when I moved in, now there's 5)

OPEN THE ROADS SO THE TAXPAYERS WHO PAID FOR THEM AND THEIR UPKEEP CAN USE THEM.

Yeah, let's fix it by eliminating the one way/ no entrance nonsense. This was always a two-way situation until some people felt they were entitled to not be bothered by "traffic"'. I get sick of having to go all the way around to get to my house on North Cass Lake Road. This started about fifteen years ago when a bunch of old people decided there was too much traffic on their roads(My now long dead ex mother in law for one.) Time to open up the roads for better traffic flow. What a load of BS! and in the Spring I intend on petitioning the people living deeper into the sub because it's nonsense that some people living on Covert and Orchid feel they should have a private road. It was changed once, it can be changed again.I've been a resident of the sub since 1973 and I'm sick of it!

We used to see police pull people over a lot for this.
But it seems to NOT be a place that Waterford Police or Oakland County Sheriffs patrol much anymore.
Too bad, the county/township need the money.

Well, good. Maybe the Waterford cops can find something better to do with their time (like actually fighting crime-care to guess how many break-ins there's been in that "semi-gated" community?) than siting on their assets writing tickets so a few people can feel they have a private road. I live on Cass Lake road and I have to go all the way around when coming from Dixie. It was never like that before a bunch of sad, old elderly people started not liking the traffic flow and changed it in 1995...that's what made those turns "illegal"...but illegal can easily be made legal again and with gasoline hitting over $5 a gallon this summer and everyone concerned with fuel conservation and personal economy,, I'm certain that a recall of this idiotic (and serving to only a few) law will go through. It's ridiculous that a law is changed that has limited community interest which disrupts traffic flow, wastes energy and serves only a few so these few can few special. Be aware that a recall movement is in the works so enjoy your delusion of living in a gated community while you can. I've lived in this neighborhood since 1973 and up until now I've put up with this inconvenience but the weather is improving so you can expect a lot of door to door visits in the neighborhood as the recall gets under-way. My summer project is to change that moronic traffic law and so far it's running about 75% for changing the law so get ready for a change. Change! Some of you have a really hard time with that concept.

I really hope the police pay more attention to this. The people that make these illegal turns now choose to ignore turn signals, making panic stops and driving through other residents' lawns. This is becoming ridiculously dangerous.

wish they would take those signs down, make it the way it used to be! people cut through neighborshoods all over the place,so should we put up do not enter signs in every neighborhood? have to drive around that neighborhod to get to meijer or anywhere else on m-59. waste of gas and time!! take signs down!!

As the temperatures get wamer, the people doing this get more rampant. In addition to 25% of the traffic on this road making these illegal turns, we now have excessive speeders too. Can we please get some extra police patrolling?

Hazardous driving complaint sent to the Waterford PD via their website. I would advise AGAINST turning on these roads anytime soon if I were you ;)

I say the majority public should fight this. It was public tax dollars that paid for the pave and care of those streets until they became "private" the homeowners of those streets should have their property taxes raised to reimburse the public. These streets are improperly signed anyway. There should no longer be a stop sign at the corner of Watkins, since you can't turn right and the side street can't turn left. There's no reason for a sign, it's just a curve now. I empress EVERYONE to give a symbolic middle finger to the snobby elitist homeowners of this nieghborhood and go through there anyway.

The DO NOT ENTER signs need to be taken down!
At the very least, if they're going to keep those signs posted, then there no longer needs to be a STOP sign for those on Watkins. That section should just be considered a curve thus smoothing out the flow of traffic and reducing "back-ups" and the cry babies of the neighborhood can STOP and wait to enter onto Watkins.

I watch people do this ALL THE TIME!

My favorite one, just last week I watched in my rear-view mirror the UPS truck drive straight into the neighborhood on southbound Watkins Lake, right over the little "island" and past the :Do Not Enter" sign.

Oh yea, this was right after he almost ran into me because I STOPPED at the stop sign before I turned left.

I don't understand why the streets were blocked off to begin with. Could it be that an Oakland Co.or Waterford good old boy lives on Covert?
The signs should be removed and taxpayers should be able to use their roads, like any other roads.

I drive right past those signs all the time and have never had a problem. Those are public streets, and my tax dollars are being used to help maintain them, so I'm going to use them as I see fit. Don't like it? Then move. That neighborhood was fine the way that it was, there was no need to these to be made into "private" roads. I live on Hira and really don't feel like driving 5 miles out of my way to get to my house from my sister's apartment on Watkins Lake Rd.

Most of the people who have commented must not have lived in the area for very long.. Traffic going through these neighborhoods was continuously heavy, with vehicles driving 40 and above to eventually get to Dixie Hwy. If you lived in the area during this time, you are thank-ful for how the Road Commission reacted. Believe me, they do not make these changes unless it was a hazard to drive on these NEIGHBORHOOD Streets.

It's funny that you think that this is your own private and personal road, and no traffic should be on it. This was changed to stop thru traffic from Dixie to M59, not to give you a personal private drive. Loser
