I will followup on this and get in touch with the DEP. If the site is contaminated then it would be a good idea to act diligently to protect the public from this open site. People are traveling this area daily and there are no postings to alert the public. This matter may need to go further then the State departments if this is an open contaminated site. This case is still open. I spoke to the DEP 6/3/09 and they have no record of any complaint being on file by the City of Hartford and have not idea what the number is that was referenced by the City of Hartford as it was stated to me in an email that was forwarded to DEP. The DEP has now opened a case to followup the this matter. The waste engineering dept. took my information. It might just mean that this issue needs to be taken to a higher level

As of this date the problem still exists. Someone attempted to put a makeshift fence up but that was taken down in matter of days. The tires have been removed but there is just more trash to take its place. DEP and the city of Hartford are just closing their eyes to this situation because the one wants the other to take care of it. Which it very typical of Hartford where no one takes responsibility. Maybe the Governor needs to step in here and assign the task. Sure blame it on the budget or the state of the economy but no one whats to be held accountable here. I have been here six years and I am growing tired of the lack of responsibility this city takes toward issues. Eddie Perez must drive down here once in while on his way to Moe's Midtown or on his way home to Bloomfield. But he must be too busy talking to his lawyer to be paying attention to this minor problem. Well I think I will just find a different route to take so I don't have to look at it any more. Although I have to say I like the new art work that has ben displayed on the concrete walls where graffetti was always present. This would be a great mural or canvas for the talented artist that need to put their work somewhere. Still waiting.

I want to re open this to info all that look at this site That the issue have been met. I was driving along Capitol ave Monday 11/9/09 and there were environmental waste removal trucks hauling away all the trash and hazardous materials. I want to thank all involved in getting this done and extend my gratitude to all involved the City of Hartford, DEP, DOT. We just need to do just alittle more and make this well traveled area just a nice to walk thru or drive thru. This area is well traveled by children and needs to be a good looking and safe area to commute thru.
