Discouraging to see how long it is taking the city to take care of this issue. We bike / walk through Cameron Village often with our two kids (3 / 1) and cars don't even stop when you're in the cross walk since there is no visable marking. This needs to be addressed ASAP.

I would be so much more likely to ride a bike to Cameron Village than drive, if there were devoted bike lanes. I guarantee, you can fit more shoppers into the lots on bike/ped than 2 ton vehicles.

Agreed. The need to clearly mark bike and ped access through the intersections on Cameron should be a top priority.

Frustrating to see an important safety issue get so delayed.

This is an issue that needs to remedied immediately to address safety concerns for bicycles and pedestrians who frequent the area.

A car hit a pedestrian here recently. EMS,RPD and RFD all responded. Driver said she didn't see any crosswalk and it was too late when the pedestrian stepped into the crosswalk.

This is especially bad because there is now increased traffic on the street due to Clark Ave. being closed. What gives, City?

City of Raleigh, why are you dropping the ball on providing safe facilities for pedestrians and bikes?
If traffic lights went out they would be fixed in hours.
Without defined bike lanes, crosswalks, stop bars, or lane markings how are drivers and pedestrians and bikes supposed to know what space they should be occupying in the roadway?
There is a lot of liability that City is taking on the longer they delay installing markings.

I emailed the City Councilors about his and received no reply from any of them. I did actually get to speak with a person working in Crowder's office. She stated that action had been taken on this months ago. I told her this was unacceptable and the convo basically ended there. The City Council has grown comfortable in the positions and smug. This is completely unaccceptable. Personally, I think they should all be thrown out.

Progress is being made. I was at Starbucks last night, the crosswalk is painted but they have yet to paint the yield triangles or cut back the tree branches that are blocking the warning signs.

Its November now and there are still no lane markings. There are some sub-par cross walks now but not lane markings and centerlines. What is the plan City of Raleigh?

The restriping of Cameron Street was delayed due to the Clark Avenue culvert failure. This replacement work should be done soon and we hope to have the striping on Cameron done sometime after Thanksgiving.

I don't see how the culvert failure relates to this. I'm surprised this is being offered as a reason without an explanation of why the culvert failure prevents restriping of a nearby street. of a This road hasn't been striped in months. It's a significant safety issue.

Allison, it's a reasonable point. But in the city's defense, Cameron St has been the detour for the culvert work, and they probably didn't want to interfere with the resulting increase in traffic. Once the detour is gone, I'm counting on them to move ahead quickly with the plan to restripe with three driving lanes and two bikes lanes.

The pavement markings will be changed to a three lane section with bike lanes once the culvert repair is to a stage that Cameron Street is not being used as a detour. We anticipate that to be in the next few weeks.
