Do we have to endure this all summer until mid august? I used to walk my dog on the green but I don't know. These look like large advertisements for Sprint or Benneton, and drug dealers are urinating behind them.

Mid August is not soon enough if it’s keeping New Haven residents and visitors out of our city center.

This is a very important art installation and as Director Rebecca Bombero stated it will not come down until mid-August. Three suggestions: 1) If you want your voice heard regarding any issue that affects downtown, (our city center), please come to the DWSCMT Community Management Team meetings. DWSCMT meets every third Tuesday of the month, at 6:00 p.m., in meeting room 2, on the second floor of 165 Church Street. We are all very friendly and seek others viewpoints on all issues up for discussion. Your input, thoughts and opinions are welcome. (Incidentally, DWSCMT stands for Downtown Wooster Square Community Management Team) 2) If you feel unsafe, please call the New Haven Police Department and report whatever threatens you or others immediately.The emergency number is, of course, 911. The Police non-emergency number is 203-946-6316. 3) If you feel unsafe crossing the Green, please call the Town Green Special Services District Office and ask that an ambassador walk you across the Green. Their general office number is 203-401-4245 and ask for the Ambassador Manager. As the Neighborhood Specialist for Downtown/Wooster Square/Mill River I hope you consider my suggestions. They have been made to help you feel safe and, hopefully, good about our City and what it has to offer. I do urge you to enjoy the art installation because it speaks to what our nation, and indeed, our city is all about. Residents of New Haven have always enjoyed its mix of different people and cultures. We need to nurture and foster that attitude. That's one of the aspects that make our city and nation great.
