Northbound and southbound traffic constantly backs up on Eighth Street NE between H Street NE and Pennsylvania Avenue SE because the light cycles at all of the intersections heavily favor east-west traffic. This problem is especially visible at Eighth and Mass NE and Eighth and North Carolina NE. The 90-series Metrobuses use Eighth, and are constantly off-schedule because of this.
