DISAGREE - pedestrians need to wait until the crosswalk gives them the light otherwise the people are breaking the law and its called Jaywalking.

I believe he is talking about when the sign says walk, cars and trucks do not yield when they are turning left. The vehicles are crossing into the crosswalk before the pedestrians get all the way across Shore.

Wincers are turning west on to Shore Drive at the same time pedestrians are given the go towel across the street....many drivers are not yielding to pedestrians. About 10 of us walked across Shore on the 4 th of July in the evening when prompted by the pedestrian sign and vehicles were not yielding to us, screamimg and cussing at mostly kids under 13. There needs to be a sign that says yeild to pedestrians who are using crosswalk OR delay the light cycle for the pedestrian crossing time period AND no right on red at birth side turning on to Shore going west for same reason.

I understand your comment better now but how will a sign that is easily ignored going to improve anything? Clearly those who are turning with pedestrians given the right of way are already not paying attention... perhaps a delay or no turn will work but the reality is that it is both the operator and pedestrian to be responsible and no amount of signage will improve the situation. Another suggestion is to live on the correct side of the street and not have to cross it... Or elevated walks...

How was this issue resolved? They still do not yield to pedestrians when they are given the signal to cross - many driver's turning left do not yield to pedestrians. I asked the city to give the pedestrians 25 seconds to cross before the cars are given a green light to ensure the pedestrians get across safely. What was fixed so that this can happen? I have seen no new signage - was something posted that clearly told the driver's to yield? The laws are conflicting so accurate and safe signage/lights need to be corrected.

I am curious also as to how this problem was solved. I crossed at the crosswalk yesterday and experienced the same pattern - people driving into the crosswalk while the pedestrian green light was on. Since this is the primary crossing for beachgoers until the bridge is complete, giving pedestrians the 30 seconds to cross before the traffic is given a green light would be the optimal solution.

This issue remains. The walk signal runs concurrently with the drivers green light. My wife and kids were yelled and honked at when they had the right of way crossing over shore drive.
