There is a wash basin in the large portable toilet under 580 near Splash Pad Park. What is the process for keeping this maintained so that the neighborhood homeless population can use it? It was locked, and someone forced it open, can it remain open and maintained?

I forwarded this complaint to Dan Foster, the Grand Lake Farmers Market Manager and this was his reply:
"The Agricultural Institute of Marin spends about $1000 a month on these and this personally is a sore subject for me. They break into our units on a weekly basis and trash them. It costs us tons of money (stolen locks, stolen chain etc.) and also prevents us from using them for the day they are intended for. The $180 chain I recently bought to lock them up has already been cut and stolen. The city has been unwilling to pay for porta potties for the houseless. I feel pretty defeated about the whole thing, and yes, any support around this from the City would be great."
