On the Walnut Creek Greenway (Section 4 I believe) between Centennial Campus and Lake Johnson, there is a section of the trail that requires you to exit onto Trailwood Dr, take a left for about 250', take a right onto Avent Ferry Rd, then back onto the greenway after crossing Walnut Creek. This area is a bit confusing if you are not familiar with the trail system. I have seen many cyclists stopped at the Trailwood Dr. exit with a confused look on their face because it is just not clear where to go next and there are no signs showing the trail at this location. It would be GREAT if a small sign could be erected at the exit point on Avent Ferry and Trailwood which states directions to the next trail segment. For example, at Trailwood, all you need is a small sign with an arrow pointing left that says "Continue Greenway at Centennial Campus - Left 250 ft, Right 300 ft, Right onto Greenway". Or even a simple graphic showing this would do. Similar signage/directions at the Avent Ferry exit showing the way to the Trailwood Dr. entrance would be needed. I am attaching a marked up screenshot to show this better. A BEST CASE solution would be to continue the greenway directly across Trailwood and connect it to the section on Centennial. That seems to be the logical choice, but perhaps the close proximity of the golf course prevented this. Please consider this for improvement of a fantastic greenway system. There will be plenty of NCSU students confused by the fall on this section of the trail!
