The VB Works/SeeClickFix system uses asynchronous (not at the same time) communication. There are some types of concern that can only be effectively addressed in real-time. Unfortunately the complaint of the private trash trucks would need to be called directly in to the VB311 at the time that the situation (noise) occurs. They are available by phone at 757-385-3111.

I second Valerie’s complaint, 4 am is way too early for trucks that go beep in the night outside our homes!

It has become impossible to sleep with the windows open lately— between the street sweeper and the 4am garbage pick up at Eat Bistro. The noise level is unacceptable.

We also are disturbed by these trucks in the very early morning. The cavalier properties, Oceans, and 3800 residents can all be awakened at 4am by city trucks in violation of the nose ordinances that protect our mornings. Thank you.

Public Works in house street sweepers begin work at 2:00 am. We are required to start this early because the streets need to be swept before citizens/tourists access the beach and surrounding areas, as well as delivery trucks for the businesses on Atlantic Avenue. Once all the morning traffic begins we would not be able to sweep effectively. All oceanfront street sweeping has to be completed by 10 am. Then why in the past three years could the street sweeping be delayed until 7am north of 38th but it is such a hardship now? Is there a change in how public works responds to citizen complaints/requests since 2016? Read the past year’s communication on SeeClickFix about this very issue.

Did you know that north of 37th St. is the residential gateway to the north end? Nearly 500 homes, not hotel rooms or rentals, are on Atlantic between 37th and 41st (VA House, 3800, Oceans II and Oceans).

Rich privileged people complaining about poor working people doing their jobs. They would be obstructing working people going to work if they clean the streets and collect garbage at later hours. This is what is wrong with our society. I never see sweeper trucks in my part of the city and the garbage truck arrives late if at all.

Well it's nice that some people can keep their windows open to catch that fresh sea breeze. I can't because I'd be letting in mosquitoes and all kinds of bugs. There hasn't been fumigation in my area for ages. Besides, the smell of trash would waft through my humble home.

I am more concerned that the sidewalks are not more kept after, I walk the Oceanfront every morning with my dogs and find myself picking up to many fast food and take away trash than I have to. The trassh truck drivers doa decent job of hoping out and picking up loose trash around the bins, we need more of that.
Speaking of noise I am also more concerned about the Navy Fighter jets that are right bove my house at 10 pm,.... 11...., 12:00am, etc. Now that is more annoying.
