There is a sign that says engines must be cut after 3 minutes but it does not seem to be enforced.
Who regulates this?
Are their fines for idling drivers?

Thanks,
But I think idling rules have more to do with air pollution and asthma rates?
Who enforces idling at the ports? The feds?

My understanding is that truck idling is illegal. I think there are signs in the port area to this effect.
I'd like to understand more about enforcement, as well.
I do know that the New Haven Port Authority is discussing options for providing electricity to truckers without requiring them to run their engines.
What do other people think?

I'm going to close this issue as I have not been over to the port in a while.
Will reopen during softball season if I see it still going on.
