The lights on the roundabouts on Raymond Ave. make it difficult to see when pedestrians are present. The design may look nice, but it is not very practical. Change the lights.
My best guess is that the lights for the pedestrian shine in the drivers eyes, particularly on the upslope at Fulton St. Perhaps some shades would help and not cost too much.
The roundabouts are fine but the low lighting at the crosswalks from the campus to off-campus housing near sports fields blinds the driver and the kids be seen crossing. Eventually one of them will be struck by a car, then the lighting will be changed.
I agree it is very hard to see pedestrians at night. The street lights and lights at the cross walks are distracting and make it very hard to to focus on individuals walking or waiting to cross.
The lighting needs to be changed!
The lighting designer on this project really messed up. These are the wrong lights to use here. They shine in the driver's eyes and dangerously reduce the visibility of the pedestrians. We need to illuminate the pedestrians without shining bright lights into the driver's eyes. Lighting from above (removing the light source from the driver's direct view) would be much better.
