When you consider how receptive to change most Rockfordians are, and how quickly they learn new things, and how much consideration they show for their fellow drivers one can only conclude that this is a very bad idea.
Roundabouts can be very useful when the populace is familiar with them but perhaps the idea should be introduced in a less critical area first.
Will the city be liable for injuries and damages when they happen here? It won't be difficult to prove that it's a flawed idea...

This is a stupid idea! A roundabout. People will take offence to this statement because they WANT to...but Most (not all) Rockford drivers are TOO STUPID to handle the driving ability required of a roundabout. Its going to cause far too many accidents. Its actually a danger to drivers.
Is the fool who thought this idea up (and obviously jammed it through all appeals reguardless of what the public actually wants) going to pay all the future liabilities from this idea? No.
Watch. This monstrosity WILL be put in and, like the Downtown Mall idea, will be torn out after only 30 years. NO ONE WANTS THIS ROUNDABOUT. Political leaders need to LISTEN to voters for once.

This is an asthetically pleasing feature and will give cars researched based and an organized approached to move through this area with little confusion. Plus it is visually pleasing and adds interest to boring stop lights and stop signs.
I've used these in many other cities and it has never been a problem.
This is a fantastic neighborhood.....go for it.. The houses are not prefab or MASS PRODUCED.. emember the song " There's a green one & a yellow one, and a red one, they are all made out of tikki takke and they all look the same." Homes here are slate, concrete, brick, marble and uniqueness.
The North END HAS CHURCHILL'S GROVE AND EDGEWATER...plaster,,,not dry walls, bricks not siding, slate not shingles, and unique design qualities all over the neighborhood. No boring track homes here!
