Johnson Avenue, like Allen Avenue and Baldwin/Preston Avenues, is in very poor condition. To fix that on a permanent basis is very expensive- multiple millions- because we need to install proper drainage. Without drainage, any repaving wil quickly be in poor condition. We are in the early stages of pursuing federal funding for these roadway projects. In the meantime, we are doing skim coats and patching as the budget permits.
In order to fix the conditions on Johnson Avenue permanently it is necessary to reconstruct the road and install adequate drainage. Paving without doing that will not last long enough to justify the expense. The cost of this project will be several million dollars, well in excess of our annual paving budget. We are in the process of attempting to obtain federal funding to offset this cost, which is a years long process. In the meantime, we will continue to try to patch and skim coat the worst sections.
I had to replace suspension parts on two of my vehicles, because Johnson Avenue is so bumpy. I don't want a patch job that only last a few months. The road needs a quality repaving.
I agree with daniel. Maybe the town should pay for all suspension work for the residences of Johnson ave and any other street that can only be access by Johnson. A Class action suit is a definite solution
The Koguts who were elected officials do not live on Parker Avenue. Parker Avenue has only been repaved once. Johnson Avenue, as I said before in this issue, is very expensive because of the need to do drainage to fix the road permanently. The cost exceeds our entire road maintenance budget for several years. We certainly agree with the need to fix this road. We have done temporary skim coats and are making progress on obtaining federal funding to assist in paying for the reconstruction project.
Maybe not thee Kogurt but still a Kogurt lives on parker, not to mention the Kogurts florist is right off there. What do u think we don't see what's going on here. Oh yeah what about the mans statement what do u have to say to say about that
Almost two years later and the same rough roads at the bottom of Johnson Ave. Why do my taxes keep going up and I have to deal with the same bad roads year after year? Repairs were recently done near Cynrose place and Johnson, but there was no potholes at that location. The lower part of Johnson Ave. near Johnson Heights, is the problem area. Frustrated with Meriden West side roads.
