Thank You for contacting the DPW&P. Swan Ave. is a private road. The City of Worcester Department of Public Works & Parks does not maintain private roadways that would be the responsibility of the abutters. Private street information can also be found online at www.worcesterma.gov under Departments & Divisions, Public Works & Parks. If you have any additional questions or would like to speak with a customer service representative please call us at (508)929-1300.

Swan Ave has full water and full sewer up to Washington Heights. The city already collects taxes from the abutters for sewer hook up and water use and some were assessed when sewer went by by Amber street.
The city should stop using the excuse that it is a private road. Do WE have to install sidewalks on our dime to make it "Public"? This City is a disgrace.
Time to move from the City

Thank You for contacting the DPW&P. Residents can petition the City Councils office requesting that a private street be converted to public. I have attached the petition form. Further information can also be found online at www.worcesterma.gov under Departments & Divisions, Public Works & Parks. If you have any additional questions or would like to speak with a customer service representative please call us at (508)929-1300.

Yes, that road conversion that you posted is the biggest scam from the city. $120 - $160 per linear foot equates to $12K to $16K for only 100 foot frontage. Sewer and water is already installed on these streets so how is this justified? The only way I see is justified is to have 4-5 city workers hanging around while 1 works.
The taxes on these so called "private roads" are the same as on Mill Street so no tax break is given.
In time we will watch the housing prices in Worcester plummet. This is due to the true leaders of the city: The Worcester City Council. As far as I'm concerned they are just WSC dropouts.
