Stop signs on a main road to allow cars to exit a parking lot? Just think all that could be installed along Dixie or M-59 using this example!

This is valid now that Summit Mall is now vacant except for Sears. It (somewhat) made sense when JCPenney was still open.

But now that I think of it, in that same area, the 'No Left Turn' signs coming out of the Target parking lot are pretty much unneccessary too, now that JCPenney is closed too. Guess I need to open that topic!

This stupid "mini" stop sign is going to cause accidents (if it hasn't already.) The sign is smaller than most, and is attached to a shorter than normal pole. (It can VERY easy be missed, especially if a high profile vehicle is the right lane.) I have almost been hit from behind TWICE in the last month at this sign. I stop, but the person flying up behind me isn't paying any attention. One person flew around me and blew through the sign (while angrily gestering). The other slammed (yes, slammed, they were also speeding) on their brakes and would have hit me if I didn't whip into the parking lot (which I was NOT planning on turning into.) I can't understand the point. If it is really is for extra ticket "income", do you really need a this stop to hand out tickets? I would think that enough people routinely speed through there that writing speeding tickets would be a full-time job. Please, rethink this before the ballpark goes in.

Those are private roads. You'll have to take this issue up with the mall owners.

The stop signs have been up there for at least 2 years. There were flags on them, signs that warned you, the stop signs were ahead. I agree the stop signs are not warranted at this time. What do you think about the stop and go signal going to flash at Sam's Club and Summit? Can the pd ticket you on a private road like Summit?

How many of you also get gestured for doing the speed limit?? Newsflash, the speed limit is 25 in this stretch. I've seen both Waterford AND Oakland Counties finest flying through this section. But I suppose the moment I do 26/27, I'll be pulled over.
The stop signs are silly and yes, you can be literally rear ended by others who either don't see them or refuse to stop for them. Alot of travel through this area to get to an empty mall

This stop sign has been up for over 2 years - it was put up in an attempt to slow the speeders.
Most folks don't know that Summit Drive is a PRIVATE road, owned and maintained by the Summit property owners. Haven't you ever noticed that Oakland County doesn't plow/maintain the road? and police shouldn't be there unless the owners have asked them to patrol/watch private property, which in these distressed times is unlikely that the township would spare them - anyway, a good defense in court
so if you're unhappy with any of the signs on Summit, contact the property owners and lodge a complaint/suggestion.

ALSO> why "no left turn" to go north? It's not THAT busy there...

This is only an issue because someone isn't happy about what the owners did on private property. Sorry, get over it.
