The police are not the solution. They are part of the problem. You may have better luck with the Guardian Angels. They can address the problem with non-violence and make the dealers relocate. Of course they'll just inconvenience other people somewhere else then.

I encourage you not to prejudice drug dealers though. They play an important role I'm the local economy.

Chapel and Norton, as I have heard, is known as "New Jack." Rampant drug use, deals and prostitution, as well as many other associated crimes, have been occurring here since the late 80's/early 90's, when crack hit the streets. This is near Edgewood Park, which has a day/night reputation of its own. And then there's "Chapel and Howe," a longtime reference to the most popular corner for prostitutes in New Haven. Every neighborhood in New Haven is battling street gangs (these are the people responsible for all of these things - drug trafficking, child sex trafficking, firearms trafficking, drivebys, etc), whether residents are aware of it or not. Someone mentioned that fighting the dealers themselves would just move them elsewhere in the city. In some cases this is possible, but in others, the dealers now reside in those neighborhoods, turning the "hood" into crap. But what do they care, they are rolling in millions of tax free dollars, their baby mamas on welfare, while they claim to have no incomes!! I'm documenting the activities of a local dealer, and I plan to send reports to the NHPD on a weekly basis. As for the GA - I haven't seen one in ages. Where do they hang out/walk?

Wow now I see why nothing gets done. Too many people with too many opinions doing nothing but talking. BTW KLP would like to meet you in person to show how drug dealing affects your health.

@BJG: Drug dealers have as much incentive to pay taxes on their earnings as everyone else, if not more so. If they get caught and are found to have not been paying their taxes, they face harsher penalties.
