I saw this today as well. There was even a TV laying beside the dumpster (which is illegal dumping of electronics). I saw on a previous See Click Fix issue that the City of Raleigh gave the stores a deadline of March 14th, but it sure doesn't seem like they are making any progress.

An inspector has been notified of this issue, I will update once I hear back from them.

Our inspector has initiated a public nuisance case with a deadline of March 28. The inspector will follow up until the issue is cleared.

Did these stores not already have a deadline of March 14th, as referenced in issue #416303? They need to be fined and a PERMANENT solution needs to be found, not given two weeks every time someone reports this. This area is treated as the city dump for household trash. The State Farm lot adjacent is already littered with trash that blows from these dumpsters.

Will there be a public hearing for the case? I'm sure some of the neighbors that live near the area would like to see and hear from the property owners in person. The issue is at a place where something must be done.

We are working with several departments to find a long term solution for this issue, the issue will be updated once I hear back from them.

The Housing & Environmental Inspections Division has reported the violations were removed prior to us initiating a case last time. We will follow up on this and initiate a case if needed. We believe the issue is illegal dumping and not the building tenants. We are in the process of trying to make contact with the management company to see if they can screen the dumpsters even though it isn’t a requirement. Once we issue a 2nd notice of violation there are citations and administration fees attached. We will keep you posted.

First, upon driving by, I have witnessed several cases of this supposedly "illegal dumping" - although, I am confident both the management of the stores and the super market are fully aware, and are also allowing it. One several occasions, patrons of the Bakery were dumping trash that they just purchased from the market into this dumpster. Second, I witnessed a Green Toyota 4-Runner with 2 Hispanic males dumping multiple bags of trash into amd beside these dumpsters, and employees of the stores were fully aware of this occurring as they were close by. It appears the management of the stores is trying to use the system by negligence saying they don't know who is doing it, when they certainly do, and are taking no steps to stop it. Lastly, the only way to stop illegal dumping is to build screens. While legally nobody can make anyone else "build a screen" - if it is their dumpster, which has become the public dumpster for the area, they are responsible.

Inspectors visited the area yesterday and found no violations. Inspectors did speak with the management company about the situation, they are aware that illegal dumping is going on at the location. They plan to move the dumpsters which should alleviate the problem. Inspectors will continue to monitor this area.
