Mô tả
A man somehow got into the Smoothie building at around 6 p.m. on June 5 and attempted to break into two apartments. Both times he was interrupted by resident. Police were called to the scene but the man was nowhere to be found.
The suspect is a tall, lanky, light-skinned African-American man in his 40s or 50s. Bald, no facial hair, wearing a white striped dress shirt and carrying a black bag of tools.

Keeping the doors shut is the first step. I know people were moving in and out this weekend, but the doors were left propped open for long periods in between loads being taken in/out. It's no surprise that someone walked right in.

I think we need to do whatever it takes to assure the safety and well-being of all the residents in the building. We were extremely lucky the only thing (not to minimize the severity/importance) that happened was two attempted break-ins. Something could have been stolen, or even worse someone could have been hurt or killed.
Everyone should be more conscientious about keeping the front door closed. We should get more cameras at the two entrances and maybe even on the main floors. We might want to reconsider the locks on the door. It seems like they can be easily popped off with a crowbar.
A doorman/security guard should not be dismissed off-hand just because of the potential cost. It should be discussed and decided upon by all interested parties. If a security guard is chosen, it should be a formidable individual who could definitely do something to defend the building, if necessary.

There should be security 24 hours a day. During the week, LAZ provides security for our parking lot, but also deters building access. This happeened on Saturday evening, a few hours before LAZ patrols the lot at night.
One one exit, someone constantly puts change in the emergency exit latch to prevent the door from locking. it appears closed from out the outside but can easily be pulled open.

From the NHI: "Between May 30 and June 26, Downtown and Wooster Square were hit by 11 total burglaries. Between June 17 and July 24, that number jumped to 32."
