This response is very timely, but the time to repair is too slow.
A suggestion to DPW: IF you have work in progress, please place a tag on the broken equipment saying "Work in Progress, DPW "and put a date on the tag.

If it's not done in 2 to 4 weeks, put another dated tag on it noting the delay. No reason DPW should get a black eye when they're on the ball.

If that were the case, the citizen could have seen that tag and noted that DPW was on the job. And that DPW knew there was some special delay.
There is a special effort going on, Complete Streets, (Cornell Cooperative) to encourage pedestrians. Broken pedestrian crossing works against this.

Tell that to my family when a driver runs me over in crosswalk...

Hey, great news! We survived it last night... here is our story. My dog and I patiently waited for traffic to clear on the corner of Washington Avenue. When crossing with my dog from the eastern corner of Washington Avenue and Grandma Brown Lane (dentist's office corner) to the western side (Friendly's corner) on the green light for folks coming from the stadium with no exiting traffic at the time of 9:10 pm, we were halfway across the street when the light turned green for the traffic moving in the same direction as we were moving. Several cars made a right on red by stopping, and looking, then proceeding from Washington Avenue toward the Stadium, as my dog and I were crossing. On the red, the next driver who was a woman in an SUV moving from Washington Avenue to toward the Stadium pulled forward aggressively. The light turned green for all of us at this point while my dog and I had about 12 feet to go to get to the curb, and this woman threateningly surged forward to within 1 foot of my dog and about 2 feet from me- then she yelled out her window "Don't you know I have the green light and you are not suppose to cross?!" The last time I checked, pedestrians have the right of way ANYTIME, and in cities the pedestrian has the right of way with the green. What a stupid and dangerous driver! She sped off down Joys Lane and I was unable to read her license plate.

Thank you so much for noting that corner at Wash And Gma Brown: it has been out for at least 4 months. Actually, I can't recall when it WAS working.

Every crosswalk and light on the KIngston Corridor should be in perfect working order. Most are not.

Mr. Schupp ... any update on when the crossing light will be fixed?

I guess the City of Kingston government is all talk and no action. I noticed in Old Hurley two different pedestrian guard rails installed on the corner of Hurley Avenue and Main Street- real fancy and expensive too. Seems like if you are in county government, you get get you want, the rest of us will just need to patient and hope no one gets injured or worse- killed at a MUCH busier crossing area...

With Washington Avenue shut down, it was much easier to cross tonight.

With football season here, the traffic is intense and drivers are speeding. The crosswalk signals STILL do not work. Push the button all you want, nothing happens.
