I agree that children should not be playing in the road, but children often act before they think and could run into the road after a dog, toy, etc... Many kids have to cross the road to get to school as well. Bicycles are supposed to ride on the road along with the traffic, but when riding a bike on this road it feels more like riding on Rt. 9. Cars and motorcycles driving at highway speeds on a residential road is not acceptable.

Everyone knows children should not play in the street, only a dumb**s with no kids would say that as defense to the fast driving. People need to SLOW down or find another to cross town. Speed bumps should be installed.

Those that speed typical run the stop signs in front of Farm Hill School as well. The police used to stop people at 6:00AM on their way to work( felt bad for them on their first cup of coffee). But the real culprits are on the weekends when they come from out of town to go to Stop and Shop.....
And how about those obnoxiously loud motorcycles there should be sound level maximum!

I have lived in this area for 16 years and this problem has been a issue since our own children where in Farm Hill School. Our dog was even killed when a speeding car was going by. How dare someone say to get their children out of the road as if they send them there to play. Police should monitor this on the weekends when the real fun begins; not at 5:45am.

The noise from the motorcycles is so loud that my wife and I cannot carry on a conversation inside the house! Sounds like an airplane rolling up the road. I can always tell when the bars are letting out on the weekends just by the increased noise from traffic speeding up the road.

There is nothing wrong with driving 35-40 through there but stopping at the signs and avoiding excessive speeding is a must. But if someone actully thinks people should go 25 through there they need to go back to 1920 and let the rest of the world go about business as usual.

If stop signs, traffic lights and speed bumps were placed on every street where someone reported speeding, no one would get anywhere. and there would be a stop sign at every intersection. Just look at the number of speeding complaints on this little site alone.

Like Baby on board signs. I really try and hit those cars that don't have the signs in the windows. Control your kids and pets and you won't have to worry about the cars.

Yeah I like those signs as well. The proliferation of the DLYKLH signs and the just plain SLOW DOWN signs speaks volumes about the problem we have in this neighborhood. It is time for the police to ticket people for speeding on a regular basis.

RE: Loud motorcycles

Many bike owners intentionally make thier exhausts louder in order to be heard by car drivers that don't "see" them. My son did, at first I was upset thinking about our neighbors being disturbed by the noise when he came into the driveway; but after he explained why he did it and how it could help his own safety I told him to make it even louder. When cars learn to share the road maybe motorcycles can be quieter.

people should try stopping at the conner of ridge and russell st. never mind flying down russell st. to farm hill, and why did they narrow russell at farm hill. it`s fun going through there when a game is going on.

This is not just a problem between 200-500 Ridge
Road, but the the whole street. From Main street extension to Prout Hill Road.
Just wondering, does the police dept., read the complaints about speeding and noise?

Ridge Road has been a speeding trouble spot for the last few years. I agree, it's the entire length of the road. There has been a cop once or twice handing out warnings. The speed limit is 25 but drivers behind you are on your tail if you abide by it. I personally don't mind 35-40 mph, but residents know that cars and motorcyclists often hit 50-60. Just the other day, some driver passed me heading toward the extension going about 70!
Regardless of the conversation, it boils down to one thing: the speed limit is 25 mph. That is the law. It's not about teens or elderly or anyone else. IT'S THE LAW! I invite police to sit in my driveway and observe the speeders!!!

Never mind observing the speeders, how about handing out speeding tickets!

I agree the speeding and people not even stopping at the stop signs are acts of plain ole stupidity. I live on Huntinghill Ave and have complained to the police department as well as my neighbors. We were told "the police cant be everywhere at once" I was also told that "We are in the middle of a shift change". I hope more signs put up in the neighborhoods hopefully at least make people think!

The police can sit in my yard if they want or how about putting speeding light/sign on the street maybe speeders will think there`s a cop down the street. oh well if they could think they wouldn`t speed
