I don't want to be in the fatal accident that moves the city and DOT to put a traffic light at this intersection, so I seek out alternate routes to get onto Route 50 south or to get to Price Chopper. This intersection is a serious accident waiting to happen. It is especially dangerous in the winter months when snow banks block visibility. Even a 4-way stop would be an incremental step forward.

Please, please fix this intersection. Many,many times we see near misses especially with drivers who leave Price Chopper plaza.

I am surprised that Saratoga Strike Zone could get all their approvals done, without a traffic signal being included at this intersection. Certainly we're going to see increased traffic, much worse than it already is, as a result of their expansion. Who do they know on the planning board????

AGREED! Heaven forbid if you get to that stop sign first but the person across from you wants to go left at their first opportunity too!!! I also can't figure out how Price Chopper could build there without addressing that intersection... it's so well traveled now. My guess is August... we all know it's even worse then, but a traffic light would slow already slow traffic out of the city. It certainly doesn't make it right, but it's the only reasonable explanation I can think of.

We have enough traffic lights in town, you want to make people stop every block on a State Highway? Go a different route!

There are too many lights in this area, much rather see one ways leading away from this intersection.

If you don't like it, avoid it, go to an intersection with a light! There are plenty of them within blocks...easy to avoid if you go a block or two in a different direction...

I do not understand why this intersection has not been fixed, its one of the worst in the entire city.

To the commenter regarding the Bowling Alley, yes it does seem strange that the expansion could just be approved by the Planning Board.

I had commented on the bowling alley renovations - the approval process did take some time, but increased traffic was never addressed. They did not add lanes, but have added several new attractions designed to signifcantly increase customers, thus traffic. And, just as Track season ends, schools and bowling leagues begin - so the traffic at this intersection never decreases.
Bottom line - this is one of the worst intersections in the city - FIX IT!

As some of the only affordable housing in Saratoga is on Lincoln, Jefferson, and Vanderbilt, as well as the fact that many racetrack workers live near the stables, MANY people walk or bicycle to and from that price chopper. Someone is going to get run over in that intersection. Its been crazy for years there, someone apparently needs to get killed there for something to change. Yes there are many lights on this piece of road, but this intersection is one of the busiest around. There really needs to be one there too.

seems like the truck turn at Finley got more attention. if leaving plaza toward Lincoln, its safer to use the plaza exit than South st. [is there a pedestrian cross walk there, near cdta bus stop?

No, there is no pedestrian cross walk. This is the worst intersection in town. I posted this over a year ago. This should have been resolved already. If our elected officials were really concerned about the community they would have fixed it. My guess is the only reason why they are even discussing it is because its election year. I am tired of the lack of leadership in this town.

Too the best of my knowledge developers are required to provide a medigation fee to pay for traffic studies such as needs for traffic lights. I'm sure to Strike Zone and Price Chopper were required to submit funds in their plans and too get approval

A traffic signal is part of the proposed Ballston Avenue project which begins at this intersection and extends north on Ballston Ave to include the intersection with Hamilton Street. At the public meeting for this project last fall the City and members of the design team from GPI promised to post a copy of the Draft Design Report on the City's Web site but to date have not done so.

Nothing doing yet! I avoid coming out of Lincoln and making a left. I avoid coming out of South, Perry and Union entirely. Better to cut through the strip mall and go out using the traffic light - perhaps illegal but mostly safer.

Project is scheduled to be built until later this year (cause they need to purchase some right-of-way first) and won't be finished till next year.
