Gotta love communication between different governmental agencies.

We realize that you feel you are getting conflicting information, but our Transportation Field Services Division advises that this stormwater lid on Glenwood Avenue is the responsibility of NCDOT. You can report it here: https://www.ncdot.gov/contact/

I spoke with someone who works at NCDOT and since the stormwater lid is in the city limits, it's the city's responsibility to maintain and fix it. The city would need to get some sort of encroachment from NCDOT to get this fixed.

Pierre, we appreciate your persistence on this matter, but this is simply not true. City staff have spoken to their counterparts with NCDOT and those contacts have acknowledged this issue is NCDOT's responsibility.

We have verified the information we have provided on this issue twice already. Therefore, we are closing this issue and will continue to close it unless we hear differently from city staff. We have several other issues open in SeeClickFix that may be the City's responsibility to address that we need to devote our time and resources to. Thanks again for understanding and for your interest in ensuring this sidewalk is passable.

That sounded really mean - sorry, it is a little frustrating trying to figure it out when different agencies provide conflicting information and don't want to take responsibility for an issue. Overall, the SeeClickFix tool is great and city staff is very responsive to the requests we put on here and in fixing those issues. Keep up the good work!

Thanks. But this is a NCDOT issue. We have passed it along and they have told us they will fix it. Open in perpetuity if you wish.

No one has done a thing to fix this problem. It's dangerous for anyone trying to stay on the sidewalk along Glenwood. Does it take someone being hit by a car or suffer a broken bone to get whoever is responsible to do something? Passing the buck isn't helping.

I sent an email to the Mayor and was referred to Mr Buonpane, Chief of Staff. Basically he said "DOT doesn't have any money and the City isn't going to fix what we're not responsible for." I suggested the danger with kids going to and from school and walking in the road. I thought he might be interested in the danger. Apparently not. The conversation was nearly a month ago.

If the above comment is correct, NCDOT has addressed this issue. NCDOT does not use SeeClickFix but they do respond to issues reported to them here: https://www.ncdot.gov/contact/
