Contact LCI, they're responsible for blighted properties. There should be a Neighborhood Specialist assigned to your area.

LCI is in contact with the bank. They are being assessed a $100 per day fine for blight.

As far as I can tell, that isn't making any difference. They've been fined for a long time and it doesn't seem to be motivating. Can't the city tear this house down and charge the bank? How can the city takeover and make this house disappear? It's so clearly unable to be repaired at this point due to structural damage. We feel like broken records--make this house disappear!!!

There is a lien that grows daily. The property is in foreclosure. The building department does it have this property on the demo list

No they are not paying $100 a day. That is the amount that is being assessed against the property. The only way it will ever be paid is if the property is sold because the buyer will demand that the lien be removed. The City could but rarely enforces these liens in any other fashion. If you look at the City Budget and see what the City collects in fines for blight every year you'd laugh out loud-its a pittance.

This foreclosure is moving along. We will update all when we have more information.

Please don't close this issue. A foreclosure date has been set but who knows if this horrible house will be bought. There're a new roof and new chimneys but the workmen who did that work said the air inside was just awful, due to smoke and mold.

Not over till it's over. New foreclosure date has been set for January. Let's see what happens then.

Foreclosure sale of January 14 was cancelled at 4 PM the day before the sale was to take place. Now it's set for April. Who will blink first--the mortgage company or the city?

Apparently, this house has been bought. Nothing has happened so far to the property. I have asked LCI what were the actual fines PAID when the house was bought in foreclosure. I don't have an answer yet.

The property has been bought and is still in process of finalizing all necessary closing paperwork. The buyer is a New Haven resident and I am hopeful work will commence when all documents are complete. I sent you via email a couple of weeks ago the fines that were paid, when I have the final numbers I will forward it to you.

The sale has been completed as far as I know. Now we just wait and see how it proceeds from here. I understand the buyer is from our neighborhood. I hope that's a good thing!
