Engine braking is also very heavily used along Geyser Road by the Logistics One trucks out of the Grande Industrial Park. As a reminder to those on the City Council, Geyser Road along the Geyser Crest housing development in within the Saratoga Springs City District.

Add one more who wants this fixed throughout the city. Many of these engine brakes put out volumes in excess of the federal maximum level of 90 decibels, which is extremely dangerous to one's ears.

There is the same problem on Washington st (and probably lake ave) and there has been a click fix entry for over 8 months now with no resolution. The city says they cannot pass an engine brake ordinance because the NY AG say that the population of Saratoga Springs is not big enough. Out city leaders should be working with the AGs office to find a way to get this done, but instead have thrown up their hands. I encourage everyone interested in this issue to call the public safety office directly and not let up until something is done.

There was a study done about ten years ago at the cost of $500,000 for a truck by-pass via West Ave and Driscoll Road,the most economical and least disruptive route, that would have eliminated heavy trucks coming into our city via Washington and Church streets. The trucks have been shaking the houses, have difficulty making turns onto Broadway and pose a hazard to cars and pedestrians. Lets not forget that the recent air rating for the city and environs was an "F" due to exhaust emissions. Now the state has millions for infrastructure improvements,shouldn't the city council be working to promote this route? Since we advertise as a resort shouldn't we try to promote cleaner air and a safer environment? West side residents suffered for years from diesel exhausts from the school bus fleet idling mornings....will it take another century to get action on this issue?

Amen! How about a bunch of us get together to address the city council to give this serious attention, at least to the extent of putting signs up reminding trucks to be aware of - and obey - noise limits.

I think harryj has the right idea. Go to your city council, repeatedly, until they address the issue. The more people who go, the more likely it could shed some light on it.

This See Click Fix thing is nice and all, but if you're not doing something about it in person to the people who can do things, you're just another internet complainer.

Add me to the list. Sick of it. That and the fact that the trucks don't reduce to 30mph until they hit Henning Rd. It's dangerous. And would someone please time the lights so that the residents of Lake Ave. and the side neighborhoods here don't have to take their lives into their own hands by screeching out of the roads and driveways into traffic because it has become so heavy, it is really not safe to be a two lane road anymore.

Add me to the list...it starts with the bump in the road by Underwood Drive, another one by Crommelin Dr. and just past Eureka...the city tried to sand down these bumps but they are no longer working...my cellar walls have cracks in the foundation that I can't prove came from these trucks but it feels like a small earthquake everytime they go by...starting with the city dumptrucks at 6 am...Lake Avenue needs to be repaved between these blocks...

When will Saratoga Springs address this issue? The trucks engine breaking into town on Lake Ave. 24/7 has escalated geometrically. My home shakes, especially all night.

This has escalated to the point of absurdity! The city had to do something, re paving to smooth the bumps, no engine braking laws and timing the light on Henning and Lake. The trucks shake our home day and night.. Really- shake. The traffic backs up from Henning past Weibel every day, most of the day. We as a neighborhood need to address this together. This thread has been going for 3 years. The city has ignored us and the problem has escalated...

I originally posted this 5 years ago. The state repaved this end of Lake which smoothed it out but since then the traffic has multiplied... there are almost constantly cars backed up from Henning to Weibel.., the exhaust fumes have killed my evergreens... I can only imagine what they are doing to us.
The trucks now shake the house all night long... my foundation has cracked as well as several walls on the street side of the house! It is so loud that I have to go to the back corner of my home to be able to have a phone conversation...
The city needs to step up now! (And yes, I have gone in person numerous times over the last 5 years)

I got divorced at least in part due to the stress of living with the constant shaking of the house, moved out and my ex sold our home because she couldn’t stand it.
