I live near this area, and we often use that park entrance to go hiking, and often see that dog wandering around up and down the east side of State Street, and he likes to follow us up the hill as we hike up. He is intimidating looking, he is not neutered, and he bothers our dog who we like to bring hiking with us. He has also almost followed us across State Street on our way home. I do not want there to be a dog fight. More importantly, he is a danger to people driving on the street, and to pedestrian passers-by. We have called New Haven Animal Shelter (203-946-8110) and the dog warden (203-410-4359) when we encounter the roaming dog. They promised us that they would look into it. Whether they have talked to the owners or not, the irresponsible behavior continues -- we still continue to see the dog in the woods, up the street, etc. The dog has never shown aggression towards us, but that's not the point. It's against the law to let your dog roam outside your property.
