My dwelling received its "annual building inspection" 10 days ago, and despite writing the egregious RCW violations that are causing me adverse health symptoms that I can articulate with photographs and doctors notes, on the form, I again, am being coerced to use the properties maintenance staff for the corrections. Even though RCW 59.18.150 written on the top of the inspection form says that the tenant and landlord must "AGREE" on the repairs. I have no affirmative statement from the management or maintenance staff they plan to comply with the RCWs, are interfacing with the appropriate housing lesions I have been voicing my concerns to, or anything else that would indicate they are outsourcing contract labor that doesn't involve hours upon hours of gas powered leaf blowers. This is completely unacceptable. I would have to pay a landlord tenant lawyer $3,400 to negotiate with the property even though that's precisely what I have been doing for 11 months now. Not only did my parents spent most of their childhood in Eagle Harbor where the "Wyckoff wood-treatment plant" was in full operation for 85 years, but so did I, immediately following when the treatment plant closed after the EPA ruled it to be a toxic superfund site in 1987 when I was 2. Not only were my parents exposed to the toxins that leaked into the environment, but so was I during my early childhood development. Today, even while still in good standing with my apartment contract, nothing has changed. I am still being exposed to toxic materials from the negligence of the people who are supposed to prevent it from being there in the first place. None of our hominids ancestors that went extinct had nuclear weapons or the petroleum industry, and everything indicates that homo sapiens are next on that list.

Here we are another month later and instead of negotiating and substantiating the extent of the material and code discrepancies of my dwelling the way that is required of them by law, the property cancelled all of my prior maintenance requests without saying or doing anything about them. I have been complaining about these issues for nearly a year that have been causing me debilitating health conditions and there has been zero progress, which supports that the people managing this property struggle with literacy and are unfamiliar with basic business standards. Tens of thousands of dollars in rent payments and all I have been getting ignored when calling out clear and egregious violations to the RCW laws and the consumer protection act. If that is the kind of response a renter gets on a regular basis, it's no wonder why it looks like the great depression on the sides of the interstates. I demand that the property be held accountable to these explicit standards.

Over a year I have been trying to get the apartment complex and the city to acknowledge and comply with the RCWs that outline the habitability standards in 59.18.060. However the city has remained silent, and the apartment management clearly have not been trained about what to do if an apartment becomes uninhabitable (from RCW 59.18.070), or have disclosed the details of their contingency plan for such an occasion, which is supposed to be done by law. Even though the doctor's note explicitly states the abnormal contamination is from "water damaged buildings", the apartment complex claimed the issue is my responsibility to clean up. These people work for me, I pay them to know what to do in the event of such a condition, but time and time again the blame is shifted on my behalf solely from a feelings-based rationale.
