I'm glad this will be fixed. I drove over the median last night. Then the second time leaving the parking lot (I always forget the milk) I witnessed two other people drive over it. It's really hard to see at night. The sign tied to the tree was funny, I wish I had taken a picture.
The sign that is at the Food Lion exit to Lake Wheeler Road is fifteen feet from the intersection and tucked behind a tree. It's far more visible in the photo than in real life due to the flash. Tonight I witnessed more cars turning left out of the Food Lion exit on to Lake Wheeler and nearly running in to oncoming cars until they finally just ran over the median. This is dangerous; fix it please. There also needs to be better signage at the other exit to the Food Lion parking lot, the one further north.
This project is handled by the North Carolina Department of Transportation. We have notified the District Engineer. NCDOT does not track See, Click, Fix inquiries. If you'd like to follow up on this issue with them, please call (919) 733-3213.
This is a spot safety project. The markings and signage is scheduled to be complete by the beginning of next week. If there are any questions or concerns, please call the Division 5 office at 220-4600.
