Delivery and Uber/Lyft pickup vehicles are routinely parking on west bound Huron between State and Division, forcing the west bound traffic into one lane. This is causing massive traffic snarls every weekday afternoon. Huron is a business interstate and parking is not tolerated on other blocks .I am not sure why this is being tolerated here. The issue seems to be a lack of signage at the apartment blocks to inform delivery vehicles of the appropriate loading dock/drop off location. To enable proper traffic flow, cann this block please be marked no stopping, standing or parking, stripped yello, and violators ticketed?.

A Community Standards Officer responded to that location on 10/11/2022 and there was no violation occurring. Please contact non-emergency dispatch at 734-994-2911 or Community Standards at 734-794-6942 when the violation is occurring, so they can send an officer out.

This is a real traffic/road problem, and checking it once at 9:30am and then dismissing the comment is not reasonable response. Please go at 5pm in plainclothes and observe for 20 min(no one will be dumb enough to stop if there is an officer standing there). The issue happens throughout the weekday afternoon rush hour.

I agree. This is not something you should report at the time. It needs a police officer there observing it. I travel Eastbound at that time and am amazed how the traffic is backed up all the way past State Street. I have seen this issue reported before.

This is a persistent problem and the city ignores it. Yet, there’s a standard issue of “someone is parked in a bike lane” on this app. Delivery vehicles park on Huron EVERY DAY causing horrible backups … please fix this. Amazon van license plate attached.

Today, USPS and Office Depot van parked there at the same time. No one ticketing them, of course. I tried to call it in the the Sherrif’s office and they were very difficult. @A2gov are you even listening to this thread anymore? It is not OK for our roads to be used as parking lots! You MUST patrol this block and put up no parking signs. Developers MUST provide off road parking for delivery vehicles.

Yes, I tried to call the non-emergency dispatch at 734-994-2911 that was given by the city earlier in the thread. I was driving of course (that's how I saw the violation) so was talking hands free. The dispatcher couldn't hear me on speaker and kept asking me to repeat myself. I could hear background noise from the dispatch center as well, making it impossible to understand her. After a while of trying to communicate unsuccesfully, I hung up. I have an iphone and use it on speaker all the time. There is something wrong with their phone system if it can't handle people on speaker.

Honestly, this is a city planning issue + an enforcement issue. The city MUST make developers have road cutouts for pickup/drop off/delivery vehicles like this who aren't allowed (by their companies) to use private drives. And the city 100% needs to mark this block as being a no-parking zone and be there every day ticketing until companies get the message. It is not rocket science...
