A lot of pedestrian lights in Bangor don't even change. They are just there for show.

Ryan. But often times even when it has that warning it runs out way to fast for 40% to 50% of the people that need to cross depending on which street you're on. And in some cases there is no in between. It's either white to cross or red to not cross.

The downtown lights I believe are intended that way for the most part, they want people to "hurry up" not saying you do this but as an example, I don't know how many times if someone is not walking on the red hand when a light is green or when the pedestrian has right of way they take their sweet loving time that someone in a wheelchair can get their faster. Downtown doesn't seem to accommodate people, just cars, just get them moving so people are not blocked in parking spaces for long, blocking other intersections, etc.

RT There's nothing downtown Bangor anyway except over priced crunchy-granola type stores anyway, and people passing through to get to one side of the town or the other. I'm seldom down there as a pedestrian anyway except for getting to the City bus or the oddly placed Post Office with it's terrible parking and weird location. But I think Bangor Maine hates pedestrians no matter where we walk. It's just not pedestrian friendly like a real city (eg Boston, NYC, Washington).
