It can be better to let the water collect in the streets and alleys than to flood the drains and then to rise up into basements. Let the street act like a flood abatement.

There's no reason for the water to collect in the alley. The flooding occurs even with light rain. There is some kind of blockage in the sewer.

This is a dangerous situation. Now garbage is piling up as people can't reach the dumpsters without walking through icy cold water.

Does anyone have any photos of the alley when it's been a pond? Dana a the 33rd ward is looking into this for us, and asked for photos. I'm checking my phone, too--it's been going on for so long, I don't know what I might have anymore.
