Posted speed limit is 40 miles per hour, cars are doing upward of 50 MPH all times of the day. Speed limit should be decreased or stopsigns installed to slow down the traffic, Cass Lake is 35 why is Cass Elizabeth so high?
Anyone with kids or enjoys walking would agree the speed limit needs to be dropped or stop sign/lights put in. This entire road is nothing but residential and people use it as a dragway.
I agree. I live on CE near Cass lake and it seems like it is a challenge for anyone on a bike or sports car to see how fast they can go. I want the WPD sitting in my driveway one night to see these clowns and get some action taken. This is a huge safety thing. They might as well sit over hear and start writing tickets. I'd go for a 35 zone down the 2 mile length. No biggy to me. I drive it every day. Putting in a light or stop sign in the middle isn't going to help much though. Just another place for them to race. I think sudden heavy police patrols is the only way to resolve it. While they are at it ticket the loud vehicles too.
Cass Lake road is excessively slow. It should be raised to 45 as it is a major though way from Orchard lake rd to M-59. Same with Cass-Elizabeth. We need to raise speed limits, not lower them. The purpose of a road is to quickly move cars along, not constant low speeds with many starts and stops. Higher speed limits and properly timed lights will help ease traffic congestion and be safer for everyone.
Raising the speed limits? Really? That is absurd. Put children, the elderly, and animals at risk in residential areas so people can make better time to their destinations? Count me OUT on that one!
I'm with CandM on the loud vehicle problem. It seems like anything goes, these days with noisy exhausts.Isn't there any law about excessive noise?? There used to be.
I'm a retired police officer and have lived on Cass Elizabeth for almost 40 years. It has never been this bad. Booming music out of cars rattles my windows, motorcycles using it as a drag-way, trash constantly thrown all over the road. I never see a patrol car because of the massive cuts made to the police department. I'll gladly spend the $30-$40 a year to increase the police millage so this can be dealt with.
