Why is this camp allowed at old town hall. The less fortunate who are living there have basically an apartment outside. Wife is afraid to walk out dog by them and family and friends don't like to visit anymore

There have been several complaints about the tent city on lafayette st on this site, and the only answer given is we are aware of it, what is the plan to have them removed? How much longer before citizens of salem have to do something?

The bus shelter in front of the former Tavern in the Square has become the new hangout for some of the homeless. They are drinking and urinating in clear view. Last week they were throwing food in the road attracting dozens of seagulls in and around the area. One seagull ended up dead in the road. I understand the challenge but this is disgusting. Maybe the T should remove the bus shelter because non of the people using it are T customers.

The city just changed the pedestrian crossing at this intersection so cars get a green light at the same time pedestrians get a walk signal.
This is very dangerous as this is a very busy intersection with cars speeding down Essex Street to catch the green light. Please change it back to where pedestrians get a dedicated walk signal.
You can't have pedestrians (a lot of kids cross here) trying to compete with cars. Again its crazy having the walk signal and the green light for cars at the same time.

Flashing light for people walking the bike path to cross Lafayette close to the lead mills and Salem/Marblehead line. Unfortunately drivers completely ignore the light. We get halfway across when one side of traffic stops but people speed through on the other side, nearly hitting us. This should be a full traffic light, not a flashing orange light.

This 15 foot stump of a maple tree has been left standing for years because a telephone guy wire was connected to it. The cable was released this summer when all of the poles on the street were re-worked. The tree has started to grow fungus as seen in the photo. Please take the stump down this winter 2019. Thank you.

Question: Why are some in favor of an "Addiction Recovery" facility vs. 4 new condominiums (8 units) on the site of the old Ward 2 Social Club? I can understand concerns re. traffic but, don't the neighbors feel that a slight uptick in traffic would far outweigh the cons of having an addiction recovery center in the neighborhood?

I saw that the last time someone broached this topic, on this site, it was taken down after receiving some fairly heated responses from neighbors. Is reporting potholes and graffiti more important than the safety of our families, specifically those of us who have young, impressionable children?

The question that I have, as I'm sure others do, as well, is how do we stop this from happening? Can't the abutting neighbors (whose names are public due their pending lawsuit) realize that a new condominium, with the proposed beach access and other improvements, will raise land values for all and beautify the Bridge Street Neck neighborhood? Why would anyone choose an addiction clinic, or the abandoned social club, over a new development that will improve the entire neighborhood?

There should be a pedestrian crossing light at the corner of Boston and Bridge Streets. I saw a younger woman today struggling to cross Boston Street with young children today. Crossing is problematic especially for elderly pedestrians walking to the Life Center on Bridge.

The river walk along Leslie's retreat park is great. There is a very real danger of drowning here however. If you look in the North river there are new wood walls on either side of the river. These walls offer absolutely no grip or hand or foot holds. If someone were to fall in their only option would be to swim up to 100 yards possibly against a strong current to be able to climb out near O'Rourke's.
At mid tide the wall is seven feet high with no hope of a person touching bottom.

Is there some way the city can put even some makeshift 2*4 ladders inside these walls in a couple places in each side?

Honestly, especially in winter, the next person who falls in here or has to go in after a child or dog is going to die. There is no way to get out of the water even if you are in great shape. It's a flat wall. You couldn't design a better trap if you tried.

Please consider this issue, it's completely unsafe.

This is an extremely dangerous area for pedestrians. I walk here several times a day and, more frequently than not, drivers do not stop for pedestrians. I've made eye contact with many drivers who have sped up while I was already crossing the road.

Additionally, the fact that this is a rotary is very unclear to many people. I've witnessed numerous people treating it as a regular intersection. The fact that all the temporary posts that were there have since been knocked down and removed proves that this is a DANGEROUS and INEFFECTIVE intersection
