  • Linnaean St & Raymond St Cambridge, MA, 02138, USA - Neighborhood 9
Ever since Garden Street became one way, Raymond has been inundated with cars, trucks, school buses, and delivery vehicles. Raymond isn’t wide enough to accommodate all this extra traffic, along with heavy pedestrian use and cyclists. Someone is going to get seriously hurt or worse unless something is done about this. Cars need to be directed away from Raymond into larger streets. At a minimum, we need to have no turns onto Raymond from 7-9am and 5-7pm.
  • Alewife Brook Pkwy & Massachusetts Ave Cambridge, MA, 02140, USA - North Cambridge
This morning, I had to go to Shattuck Ace hardware, Arlington to pick-up special-order items. Mass Ave was backed up, so I made a right at Churchill Ave (0,2 miles from ABP) to go to Broadway in Somerville. When I turned right onto Alewife Brook Pkwy at the end of Matignon Road, I noticed the westbound Alewife Brook Pkwy was backed up beyond the traffic light at Woodstock Street for total of at least 0.3 miles.
On the way back, once again, I ran into stalled traffic on the southbound Mass Ave on Arlington side.
Please do something to mitigate this traffic congestions during rush hour if for nothing else but to reduce air pollution caused by all the idling cars.
Sometimes the backup on northbound side goes all the way back to Pemberton. All told, there could be a mile or more if cards idling and that is a lot of air pollution!
Please conduct traffic survey to measure the length of traffic backup on all 4 sides of the intersection during the peak of rush hour. TP&T has shown that they can conduct traffic survey without traffic counters during the community meeting period of the Cycling Safety Ordinance implementation in north Mass Ave so I am sure they can redo this survey.
    Thank you
  • 56 Concord Ave Cambridge MA 02138, United States - Neighborhood 9

I am standing in front of my condo building on Concord Avenue and I am very startled and frustrated by the traffic lining the outbound street between Huron Ave. and Craigie Street.

Currently, there is a solid line of cars, buses, delivery trucks, and construction vehicles up and down the street.

This is not a suitable traffic pattern and has an immediate negative impact on me and my neighbors on Concord Ave.

I am supportive of bicyclists and all modes of transport, but cannot believe that this is the best scenario for our fair Cambridge. This is not a good look for our city or the planning that goes into traffic upgrades / projects.

I hope that we can find an alternate solution that supports all.

    Respectfully submitted.

  • Huron Ave & Rc Kelley St Cambridge, MA, 02138, USA - Neighborhood 9
The traffic on Huron going from Concord to Garden is now backed up for several hours a day (due to the change on Garden St). Signals at both intersections need to be adjusted so that the Concord and Huron intersection is not blocked by the line of cars (which makes people start maneuvering around and thats unsafe for pedestrians and bikers alike). And the lights at Huron and Garden need to be adjusted now that there are so many more cars approaching on Huron, it can take 4+ light cycles to get from Concord to Garden between 2 and 7 pm.
  • 215 Prospect Street Cambridge, Massachusetts, 02139 - The Port
The traffic lights for pedestrians are out
  • Cambridge St & Hampshire St Cambridge, MA, 02139, USA - Wellington-Harrington
This is what a normal day looks like from 3-6pm... This is NW bound Hampshire St traffic passing through this intersection.. As you can clearly see the traffic is backed up all the way to Prospect st from Cambridge st. This is because the traffic light only stays green for 10 seconds for the NW Bound Hampshire St traffic... I've complained about this before 6 months ago and was told it was resolved but clearly it has not. My suggestion would be to increase the NW bound hampshire st green light from 10 seconds to 20 (It seems like the traffic issues started ever since they reconfigured this intersection)

193 Concord Ave Cambridge MA 02138, United States - Neighborhood 9

Waiting for bus at Concord and Huron Traffic backed up in all directions But that isn't exactly what I am reporting

In 10 minutes I have observed seven adults on bicycles riding on the sidewalk on either side of Concord and five riding against traffic on the westbound side of Concord

I think these bicyclists have by their actions demonstrated that the Garden Street changes are not what they want They are also not what the neighborhood wants

Two more on the sidewalk as I write this And my bus is late, undoubtedly stuck in traffic the Garden Street changes caused

If the bikes don't use it and the neighbors don't want it let's get rid of this failed experiment

  • 20 Roseland St Cambridge, MA 02140, USA - Agassiz-Harvard
No double yellow line once Roseland Street becomes two way. Cars queue on the wrong side of the street in the way of incoming traffic.
  • 38–66 Brookline St Cambridge 02139, United States - Cambridgeport
This intersection needs a 4-way stop. Traffic on Brookline is much too fast. Cars on Franklin who are either crossing or turning onto Brookline often don’t realize Brookline does not have a stop sign. A dangerous collision happened just today. And it happens every so often. Perhaps other traffic calming treatments are needed if a 4-way stop is not warranted
  • 139-145 Brattle St Cambridge, MA, 02138, USA - West Cambridge
The City removed the pedestrian island at Brattle and Sparks about a month ago, but did not repaint the crosswalk stripes. I realize that bike lanes are slated to be installed, but what about the safety of pedestrians in the meantime? This intersection (which has bus stops at on each side of Brattle) is particularly busy at school pick-up and drop-off times. Note also: the intersection does not have a crossing guard. (It once did, but the City did not replace the guard after she retired.) Suggestion: The traffic department could at least provide cones with PEDESTRIAN CROSSING signs.
  • Porter 1899 Massachusetts Ave, Cambridge, MA 02140, USA - North Cambridge
broken flexpost. this is a dangerous intersection when they are missing
  • Bristol St & Cardinal Medeiros Ave Cambridge, MA, 02141, USA - Wellington-Harrington
I am writing to suggest the safety for motorists and pedestrians could be greatly improved at this intersection with a four-way stop sign arrangement. I live just 100 feet from this intersection and cross it all the time with our 3 year old in a stroller. I work from home and hear screeching tires of near misses at this intersection many times per day It seems the traffic approaching Cardinal Madeiros from Binney and Bristol does not realize there is not already a stop sign for traffic on Cardinal Madeiros and they pull out into the drive lanes expecting others to stop. I have seen and heard multiple crashes and near crashes and hope you will consider adding stop signs at this intersection for the safety of everyone.
