The lack of adjacent homeowner maintenance of the sidewalk in front of their property required by City code is causing a safety concern on Fentress Ave. Pedestrians with strollers and wheeled wagons are forced into the street. Since the sidewalk is mostly covered with sand and turf, folks looking for parking believe it is a good place to park because it doesnt much look like a sidewalk and the no parking signs are not seen or ignored. This forces walking pedestrians into the street. The result is beach goers walking down the middle of the street where there is barely enough room for two cars to pass. Almost ever good weather day, police are called to this area to enforce no parking restrictions and many cars have been towed. This is a repeat complaint that was received by Code Enforcement, but nothing was done or property owners ignored Code Enforcement officers. My undererstanding is that if City Code Enforcement issues a notice and property owner ignors, the City can have the sidewalk cleaned and billed to that property owner.

Sidewalk is gradually disappearing due to overgrowth of turf and blowing beach sand. This creates a safety hazzard since many pedestrians are forced to walk in the road in a heavy traffic area near the beach. Baby strollers, in particular, are forced out into the road and are at risk. I believe, the City code requires the adjacent property owner to maintain the sidewalk. The landlords office of the adjacent properties has been called and no effort to clean up the sidewalk has been seen. This has been a subject of SeeClickFix reports several times and not action has been taken.

Pleasure House Lake is approaching flood stage as a result of recent rain events and needs to be pumped out. The City Park off Beaufort Ave. Is now mostly flooded and lake level on the north side of the lake is covering storm water drains which are backing up.

The sidewalk along Fentress Ave.is not being maintaining in accordance with City Code 33-13 which requires the property owner to keep the sidewalks clean in front of their property to the street pavement. Turf and grass have been allowed to overgrow the sidewalk and about one third of sidewalk is unusable. This area gets a large amount of pedestrian traffic going to and from the beach and many resort to walking down the street instead of the sidewalk. Recently have seen double- wide strollers being pushed down the street instead of the sidewalk which could accommodate the stroller if sidewalk was maintained. The landlord's office was contacted and nothing was done. There is a lawn service maintaining the lawns on these rental properties, but sidewalks are ignored. The City some time ago installed the sidewalk to improve safety on persons walking on Fentress Ave.and Greenwell Rd. That purpose is now being abrogated by lack of sidewalk maintenance

This Port-a-Pottie was apparently placed 3-4 days ago by the City to accommodate Beach goers over the July 4th holiday. Problem is that it is already being over used and smells when walking within 10-20 ft. I can't imagine what it will be like by the weekend. It certainly will not be used because of the smell. It needs to be changed and more added if the objective is to provide facilities for Chics.Beach over the holiday.

There is a very large tree limb in the City right-of-way that could be a hazard to autos and bike riders on the 4600 block of Lauderdale Ave. Part of the limb is protruding into the roadway. Given the narrowness of the road and two cars cannot pass without one pulling off the road, this could be a potential hazzard. The limb was either dumped or moved there. It's not obvious that it came off a nearby tree.

Pleasure House Lake is now at a higher level than when it was reported in the above referenced issue in June. The Lake needs to be pumped down again to absorb the continuous rain events of this summer. If we have a hurricane or northeaster, the Lake will flood again as it did last year. It needs to be pumped out to Chubb Lake before any storm surge makes pumping impossible.

Pleasure House Lake is at pre-flood condition after the many intense rain events over the past month. It needs to be pumped out to neighboring Chubb Lake, as it has been in past flooding before any storm surge backs up the Bay to make pumping into Chubb lake and eventual outfall to the Bay impossible. The outlet that drains the area between the 4600 blocks of Lauderdale Ave. and Lookout Rd. Is now covered and starting to backup. The resources to pump out the lake are certain to be needed sometime this summer. To prevent hardship to the residents of Lauderdale Ave, as happened after the 2017 hurricane, expending those resources before flooding would be the best course of action.

Pleasure House Lake has again flooded over its banks onto the 4600 block of Lauderdale Ave. It is much worse than when it flooded last month. After the last flood, the lake was not pumped down enough to allow another significant rain not to flood again. This is the worst flooding seen in the 28 years we've lived at this address.. People can not get out of their houses without having to wade through 6 inch deep water.

Due to continuous rain over the past few days, Pleasure House Lake has flooded over into the street. In the past when this flooding occurs the City has pumped out the lake with a portable pump. Is this the current plan and when can the neighborhood expect the pumping to start and lake to recede?

There is no no-parking sign at the intersection to prevent cars from parking right up to the edge of the intersection which prevents cars pulling out of the 4600 block of Lauderdale Ave. to see crossing traffic on Fentress Ave. There is a similar, and probably more dangerous situation, because of increased speeds, at the intersection of Lookout Rd and Fentress Ave. Cars parking on the southwest side, very near the intersection, block the view of on-coming traffic on Lookout Rd. Signs are needed or guaranteed there will be an accident.
