The rush-hour traffic on Willis Avenue is getting increasingly bad. It’s difficult to maneuver when both sides of the street have parking. Also it seems like a lot of drivers are being funneled that way through map apps.

As a 20 year resident near the corner of Bonner and Willis, I agree that it has become very difficult to maneuver. The three-way stop signs cut way down on the accidents. But now there are too many parked cars to maneuver around. I think it’s a safety hazard for emergency vehicles. And it’s only going to be worse with snow this winter. My guess is that so many of the side streets have turned into rentals and there are way too many car owners living in them that they park on Willis.
I don’t think making it one way will be feasible (there are already so many one ways in the neighborhood and it is a needed thorough fare). I do think a simple solution is to make it year-round one side only parking all the way from one end to the other. And if homeowners don’t want their side all the time, you could institute an annual switch of parking (even years- even side parking, odd year-odd side). While it may make parking a little trickier, I think this is the best solution for alleviating the dangerous traffic backup and narrow passing lanes.
