For a separate request, please open a second request. Vehicles parked on Jones Road not connected to the original complaint of an auto dealer on N. Main are two separate issues. I checked on Jones Road in the mid-morning hours yesterday and located no rental cars or inventory cars associated with auto dealers parked on this street. Which vehicles are you specifically referring to? Employees of the auto dealers or auto shops and BART parkers are legally able to park their personal vehicles on this stretch of road.
Yes they are allowed to park on this street. But as a resident that live close on this street, I have to put up noise, garbage, car break inns, homeless, urine bottles and so much more.
If this street was in the north gate area the city would never allow it. This area is a dumping ground for the city
Jone Road is still a mess. If you want to see how bad it is, come after 7pm starting any Friday and you will see cars from the the hotel, dealers, rental cars and of course homeless. Yes i know this is not the place for this issue but calling city hall and they hear is Jone Road falls in deaf ears
Thank you for the inquiry. The only two staffers who review SeeClickFix are not in the office at the time listed in your comment. If you are seeing vehicles which you can connect to the nearby hotels or auto dealers or rental agencies, please document these vehicles by taking a photo and posting it to this inquiry. We have checked on this roadway many times in the early morning hours through to mid afternoon and the vehicles overwhelmingly appear to be from the residents of Jones Rd themselves or people who work nearby.
Thank you Matthew for your comment. The cars parked on Jones road during the day are not the residents. During the day the Road is used for parking by the car dealers that shuttle their employees to and from their car. Also add BART and hotel guest that don’t want to pay for parking.
Employees of the businesses in the area, including from the other side of the tracks, may park on this public roadway. It is not illegal for their employees to do so. This extends to the employees of the auto dealers. Bart riders may also park on this roadway.
The auto dealers cannot store their for-sale inventory vehicles on the roadway nor can the car rental agency store their inventory vehicles on the public road. We have not come across one of the nearby dealers using this street in that manner for some time.
To discuss possible parking restrictions in the future, you could contact City Council directly. In the past, possible ideas brought by residents have included making the area Residential Parking only. This may not move forward as only the east side of Jones Rd is part of the residential neighborhood. The west side bordering the Bart tracks has previously been deemed commercial and would not be included in the restricted residential parking area.
