Yes, a distinct issue, but the Alder covering Howard & 6th and Howard & Sea also represents the odd-numbered side of part of Greenwich Av, so the issues are distinct but obviously related in terms of which Alder needs to address speeding at the 2 locations cited above, as well as part of Greenwich Av. Presumably Dolores will have a response at issue # 41893 that will address speeding at all 3 locations. Specifically many of us would like to see a response that 1. isn't a rehash of what we've been hearing for years and 2. acknowledges the fact that speed humps/bumps/whatever-ya-wanna-call-'em now are portable and therefore can be removed for snow plowing and 3. if the city already is using these elsewhere, then WHY CAN'T WE HAVE THEM HERE?

Projects which I’m particularly interested--besides adding a rotary or speed hump at Sixth & Howard + Sea & Howard--include “Yield to Pedestrian” signs at every intersection on Howard Ave. from First St. to Sea St. as well as at First & Greenwich [at Galvin Park], pedestrian cross signals as part of the existing traffic signal at Fifth and Howard, a speed hump on Greenwich Ave. approximately between Third & Fourth Streets.

In response to many the requests for speed bumps in Ward 5 and 6 Aldermen Perez and Colon have requested them only to be told that the bumps were not an option. Recent changes in technology have made it possible to create and install something called "Speed Humps" which have been discussed in the "Complete Streets" presentations around the city. As of June 2011 both aldermen have requiested speed humps along the length of Greenwsich, Hallock, and Howard Aves. We pray there are no tragedies while we wait for their installation,

Speed humps between 1st and 2nd on Greenwich are particularly important. Kids surround this area with the active splashpad at Galvin Playground. Cars drag race on our road creating an extremely dangerous situation for anyone in the area.

Alderwoman Colon is a woman who seems to be awake and with the program. I like her. Come on Dolores, make this happen.

People have been complaining about this intersection for the 27 years I've been living here--and I'll bet even much longer. I don't see why it should take another 27 years to fix it.
