Judging by the amt of squattrs I observed on a trip to Oakland.Berkeley. I think they are there to stay!! Our problem could be squashed if the City would step to the plate & move them out!! There are laws re this!!
My reason for reporting these homeless encampments is to prove to the city council that these encampments do indeed exist. And hopefully the city council will begin to deal with the problem. Other cities have, why not Vallejo? It is not an impossible task, nor is it overwhelming. It simply requires caring, devoted people/politicians to come up with a plan, using available resources.
Agreed, not that I expect action so much, in that it is a record of reporting and locations of “Hot Spots”. We can use it as reference when the City changes its policy. That won’t happen without money & resources to help and house the needy.
The Community Service Section, Code Enforcement and Neighborhood Law Attorneys all met with the Railroad Company this afternoon to discuss a plan to clean up these encampments. Hopefully they will clean them up within the month.
What’s the railroad going to do with them? Unless they’re bringing box cars for shelter and Porta Johns to do their business in.....
Posing this question yet again. Who enforces evection of encampments? I suspect that the railroad will have to go through the process and that the Vallejo Police Department will be the ones evicting them. I feel like there’s a step in this process that could be eliminated.
Take a train to Stockton, ook 2 the squatters residing along the tracks.. Its tent city, just like Vallejo is becoming! My , but do we have any rights as homeowners who pay taxes? I can hardly wait to boot some of the city officials out on election day! That is still a right we have!!
Just take a look behind Food Basket store on Sereno Drive..Disgusting site on railroad tracks.. Has been reported over a month ago & to the Mayors Office!! Maybe by next Xmas? Welcome to scenic Vallejo folks!!
