We have completed a good deal of work (over 20 tons) but there is still work to be completed. Hopefully winter is behind us and we can schedule the cleanups that need to occur. Unfortunately the remaining work must be done mainly by hand and a good deal of it will need to be done from the water.

Does the parks department plan to finish this cleanup any time soon?

Yes, this is part of our responsibilities, but with trash collection, poking, graffiti removal and prepping for scheduled events like the Cherry Blossom Festival and Rock to Rock we haven't had the four staff available for an entire day to complete this project. We have staff scheduled for Saturday to complete the project - lets hope the rain doesn't make the area too muddy to get the equipment in there again - and yes while we will be cleaning by hand, the equipment is necessary to move out - TONS of trash can not be carried out that far by hand.

After 30+ tons of removal the project is completed. Unfortunately had to remove more brush than we had hoped to.
