This location of castle gate dr and smith springs rd needs either a 3 way stop sign or a traffic light. It's hell trying to turn left from castle gate onto smith springs rd not one day but everyday, this has been a problem since I moved 1992▶Archiviert

I agree with this one. I live off of Smith Springs, too and I've had about 10 near-collisions from people who will kamikaze out out Castlegate or Clearlake Dr. Please make sure any fix takes Clearlake Dr into consideration!
Specifically, if you are trying to turn left from Castlegate you can not see down the road far enough to your left (because of the curve) to see oncoming traffic. Because this is a high volume street during the rush hours, the result is many drivers making unsafe pullouts into traffic with squealing tires and sometimes overcompensation bringing the vehicle into the oncoming lane or causing vehicles on Smith Springs to brake severely.
According to the Traffic Division of Metro Public Works, this intersection has been studied several times within the past few years. Traffic volumes on Castlegate have been consistently lower than those needed to justify a 3-Way Stop, and there is not enough left-turning vehicles to warrant a signal. Our observations have suggested that motorists may have difficulty turning on to Smith Springs due to inadequate capacity. There is a road-widening project included in the Capital Improvement Budget, but has not been funded at this time.
When was the last time traffic was studied concerning castlegate, its not the only street there are a lot of side streets off of castlegate that people live on. In other words its not important to save people lives. A traffic light was put up at Bayview subdivision off of bell road and i think its a lot more people on castlegate and all of the side streets to warrant some kind of traffic signal.
A stop sign or traffic light would impede traffic in both directions on the main road. There are other easy and quick routes to Bell Rd and the sub divisions in the Castle Gate area.

Really?
I don't live off of Castlegate or Clearlake, but I cringe every time I pass by there since there are cars constantly zooming out whenever they think they have an opportunity so they don't sit there forever. I wish they'd put a light up just for the safety aspect. For people heading south on Bell Road, sure, there are plenty of alternatives that could be much faster. If you're going north, though, you shouldn't have to go all the way around Mossdale to Bell Road when you should be able to just safely turn on to Smtih Springs.
Thanks to our now MIA newly elected council person Karen Johnson, Metro approved a traffic light for Castlegate and Smith Springs Road recently, should be going up soon!
Paving Smith Springs Road and adding wider lanes and a sidewalk would UPDATE the area. People would be able to walk to the bus stop and stores without getting run over. That road hasnt been modified since it was paved in the early 1970's.
A stop sign or traffic light would impede the traffic flow on Smith Springs Rd as we will witness for the entire week due to the road being torn up near the water plant. Even before this raod detour, the traffic comes to a halt many days and nights, near the Jehovah Witness building and it takes about 3-4 traffic revolutions before one can even cross Bell Road. After crossing Bell Road, the traffic crawls until Anderson Road. There should be something better than putting more road blocks on the highly traveled Smith Springs Rd. New subdivisions should have access points other than just Smith Springs. Look at the current map of the area and note how many current subdivions have only Smith Springs Road as the access points.
If the traffic light is installed at Castlegate Dr and Smith Springs, it will make more timing sense to go through the Castlegate neighborhood to get to Anderson Rd or Bell Rd than sit in backed up traffic on Smith Springs Rd. This will not make the residents of that area happy and those side roads will be HEAVILY impacted.
