The 300 block of Rutherford Ave is filthy. Most of the street is occupied by houses that are either abandoned, boarded up or in dire need of repair. The trash that exists on on the occupied properties is never cleaned up. The city owned properties are left unattended and unsafe. There are still a few owner occupied homes on the street, however most of the properties are owned by slumlords who could care less about the area.

I want this fixed because Rutherford Avenue used to be one of the most beautiful streets in the West Ward. For the last 20 years the street has slowly become blighted. COmmunity efforts seemingly have fallen on deaf ears in city Hall and were left with the wreckage of slumlords and abandoned city owned properties. We also need street lights. The streets are so crowed at night that you cannot see to leave your house. This problem can only lead to crimes.When will something be done. We could also use alot more police presence in the area. There are fights nightly and groups of men are constantly standing on the sidewalks, which makes it very uncomfortable for any female who needs to get from her car to her home.

Why isn't there more police presence on Rutherford Ave. In addition, the convenience store at Prospect and E. Rutherford Ave, is an obvious health hazzard. The store is overcrowed with old merchandise and rodents. It's filthy and the owners raise the prices each day. For years now, it has become nothing more than a hangout for drug dealers. I've seen drug dealers pay $100.00 for a steak sandwich. When will that corner be cleared and when will something be done about the men who occupy the space at E. Rutrher ford and Prospect. They do nothing but sit in that spot and drink on a daily basis.
