Here is the response from the Sound Transit Project Manager:
The minimum 5-foot sidewalk width is maintained around the new light poles installed by Sound Transit on the east side of 8th Ave NE. When the adjacent properties redevelop, the sidewalk will have to be widened to at least 8 feet and the light poles may be relocated as part of the redevelopment.
