None of these stumps narrows the path of travel below the 36" that is required by the Americans with Disabilities Act and none creates a vertical level-change above the maximum 1/2."

A block away, none of the three accessible parking spaces across the street from New Haven Academy are accessible to the people for whom they are reserved, leaving that Public School with no accessible parking space as required by Federal law.

It really should be obvious that the Dept. of Justice and Federal District Court will find that the city's policy of leaving hazardous violations of Federal anti-discrimination law in place while it removes stumps that do not cause violations of Federal anti-discrimination law because someone down the street wants a new tree planted is not discriminatory against the members of that protected class.

But we can ask them.

Hi Rob, I emailed the city about this and they said that they can remove these stumps, likely in the spring, but they'll need you to formally request trees for these locations first. Once you do that, they'll be put on a list that URI shares with the city of stumps that need to be removed because new trees are going to be planted. I hope that helps!
