April 30, 2022 the water heater in our kitchen sprung a bad leak, damaging the church downstairs. The heater was repaired immediately, but not the enclosure that it sits in. The wall/opening to the heater has since been partially repaired, but repairs look temporary and perhaps not up to code (?). A large board was nailed in place next to the door, and other scraps placed in the crack between them at the floor. In the past, this has been an entry point for rats and mice, so beyond whether it is actually a code violation, it is of concern.
I have asked our manager about this in writing, and she passed the request for repair on to the owner more than once. I have been afraid to send anything to code because in the past, there has been retaliation from the owner for having done so, even for asking a question. "Stop submitting bogus code reports!!!"
So I don't know if this is a code violation or not, but it does appear to need repair, so I am checking.
